At Heathfield Academy we teach the children French each week as the National Curriculum states; A high-quality languages education should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. It also states, languages provide opportunities for (children) to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of thinking and read great literature in the original language. Our intent at Heathfield is for our children to understand and respond in spoken and written language to a range of topics which interest them and which they can relate to. In addition to this, we want our children to understand the culture of France and many French speaking counties allowing them to draw on similarities and differences whilst developing their understanding, acceptance and cultural capital.
